    What tools you’ll need

    • Mobile device with the Integrated Video app installed
    • 1 x Phillips #1 screwdriver
    • 1x Torx wrench
  • Installing the camera

    Connect the camera cables

    1. Connect the camera cable A1 to cable A2.
    2. Connect cable A2 to the DC power adaptor.
    3. Connect the wiring harness (B) to the DC power adaptor.
    4. Connect the wiring harness (B) to the connector cable (C, D or E).

    For light commercial or private vehicles, use the OBD-II connector (cable C).

    For heavy trucks, use the 9-pin connector (cable D). If you need a 9-pin (Deutsch) connector for heavy trucks, contact Verizon Connect Support.

    For light-duty vehicles manufactured before 1996 or heavy trucks with 6 pin connectors use, use the 3-wire connector (cable E).

    Connect the camera to the power source

    Connecting to an OBD-II port (cable C)

    Connecting using the 3-wire connector (cable E)

    The camera needs to be connected to a power source.

    Before connecting the camera, ensure that the engine is switched off and the DC power adaptor is switched on.

    Connecting to an OBD-II port (cable C)

    1. Locate the port
      The location of the OBD-II port varies from vehicle to vehicle. The most common location is to the left of the steering wheel, underneath the dashboard. The diagram shows other possible locations. Go to the Hum website to search by vehicle make, model and year .connecting-to-an-obd-ii-port-1a.jpg
    2. Firmly connect the cable to the OBD-II port.

    Connecting using the 9-pin connector (cable D)

    If you need a 9-pin (Deutsch) connector for heavy trucks, contact Verizon Connect Support.

    Connecting using the 3-wire connector (cable E)

    Important: Ensure that the driver door is open during the entire installation process.

    If you are adding a 3-wire connected camera to an existing 3-wire connected GPS installation, you can splice into its existing constant, ignition and ground connections or use a stainless ring terminal to make your own ground connection.

    You can use butt connectors or Posi-tap connectors. You cannot use Add A-Fuse, fuse taps or Scotch lock type connectors when completing these installations.

    Black wire – ground

    With the vehicle’s engine off, attach the black wire directly to a chassis ground point or to a ground line (chassis ground) by splicing directly to a ground lead or by using a poke and wrap method (see below).

    Red wire – continuous power

    With the vehicle’s engine OFF, use the voltmeter to locate a 12-volt battery lead and attach the Red Wire by splicing directly to the lead or by using a poke and wrap method. If attaching to a fused lead or using an in-line fuse (not necessary), verify that it is at least 5 amps.

    Be careful not to confuse a retained accessory power (RAP) line with a true continuous power line (12 volt, always online).

    To determine a true continuous power source:

    1. Ensure the driver door is open.
    2. Select a wire.
    3. With the vehicle’s engine switched off, use a voltmeter to measure the DC voltage on the wire. It should show 12 VDC or higher.

    White wire – ignition power

    With the vehicle’s engine switched off, use the voltmeter to locate an ignition line with switched power and attach the white wire to the line by splicing directly to the lead or by using a poke and wrap method.

    • Do not use an inline fuse on this line.
    • Do not use accessory power.

    Poke and wrap method

    1. Locate the correct wire.
    2. Strip the insulation from a section of the wire.
    3. Make a hole through the exposed wire
    4. Insert cable through the hole.
    5. Wrap cable tight and insulate with electrical tape.
    6. Place zip ties over the electrical tape on each side of the connection.

    Turn on the ignition

    When the camera is connected to the power source, turn on the ignition to turn the camera on.

    Camera boot-up

    During the camera boot process, the red, blue, and green lights will flash in sequence and then beep.

    If the blue and green lights are not solid after 10 minutes, there is an error. Please refer to the Device Support section. If you cannot resolve the issue, contact Customer Support.

    Identify the camera

    Use the Integrated Video app to scan the bar-code to identify the camera.

    Each camera has a unique bar-code and serial number. The serial number can be found on the camera itself and on the box that the camera came in.

    To identify the camera, you scan the bar-code using the Integrated Video app (See Camera installation guide – before you begin if you do not yet have the app).

    The following steps are carried out in the app:

    1. Under Camera Activation, choose Activate.
    2. Hold your device so that the bar-code appears in the app viewfinder. The app will automatically identify the camera.
    3. Alternatively, you can enter the serial number manually. To do this, select Manual Input, enter the serial number using the keypad, and then select Next.

    Choose a location for the camera

    Before attaching the camera to the windshield, you need to choose the most appropriate location. When choosing a location, consider the following:

    1. The camera should be placed as high as possible within the wiper sweep zone of the windshield on the driver’s side.
    2. The camera portion of the device should reside in the top 2 inches (5 cm) of the wiper zone.
    3. The camera must not obstruct the driver's view of the road ahead.
    4. Avoid placing the camera near the vehicle's climate control system, as excess heat can interfere with the camera operation.

    The camera can be placed anywhere within the highlighted area.

    Adjust the angle of the camera

    The camera should point directly at the road ahead, with no obstructions.

    Adjust the camera angle bracket, based on the slope of the vehicle’s windshield, so that the camera is aimed well.

    To adjust the angle:

    1. Remove the angle bracket lock with a Philips #1 screwdriver.
    2. Hold the camera against the windshield.
    3. Adjust the camera aim.
    4. Replace the angle bracket lock.

    Test the camera alignment

    1. Hold the camera against the windshield, pointing straight ahead.
    2. In the app, you will see a preview image. Ensure the camera is correctly aligned and that nothing obstructs the view.
    3. Once you are happy with the location and the view, select Next in the app.

    Stick to windshield

    Important: The windshield glass temperature should not be too hot or cold. Please install the camera in a moderate temperature (recommended between 50°F – 80°F).

    1. Clean and dry the area on the windshield where the camera will be placed.

    2. Attach the provided 3M adhesive pad to the camera bracket and press firmly.stick-to-windshield-2.jpg
    3. Peel off the protective strip from the adhesive pad.
    4. Stick the camera to the windshield by holding the camera in position with firm pressure for 30 seconds.

    Tidy away the cables

    Secure the cable extension into the headliner panels and use the cable ties to route around the side towards the power source. Do not put the cables behind the A-pillar.

    If you are installing a driver-facing camera, attach it to the connector before tidying away the cables.

    Pair camera with a vehicle and activate

    The camera must be paired with a vehicle so that when the camera detects a harsh driving incident, it can be associated with a particular vehicle.

    1. In the app, on the Identify Vehicle screen, choose the vehicle to pair with the camera.

      Choose the vehicle from the list or by searching for the vehicle by vehicle name, vehicle identification number (VIN), vehicle registration number (REG), or electronic serial number (ESN).

    2. Select Next.

    3. Confirm that the camera is paired with the correct vehicle and then select Activate camera.

  • Device support

    The camera has three indicator lights to help you identify any issues with its operation:

    Blue: Recording

    Green-on.png

    Green: Communication

    During normal operation, both the green and blue lights are on.

    If the blue light is off and the red light is on or flashing, there could be a problem with the SD card.

    If the green light is off or flashing, then there could be a SIM or network error.

    Let's look at some common issues.

    Solution: Check that the camera is within coverage.

    Solution: Reset the camera. If this does not work, the card may need to be replaced or repaired.

    Solution: Try the following before contacting Verizon Connect support:

    • 1) Check that the camera is within coverage.
    • 2) Reset the camera.
    • 3) Turn off the ignition and confirm that the SIM card is installed and with the correct orientation.

    Reset the camera

    Press the Calibrate button for 3 seconds, or until you hear a beep. The calibrate button is the smaller red button on the camera. Use a small tool or paper clip to press the button.
